The ERASMUS cooperation with two universities in Tanzania was intensified as Dr. Simone Giertz, international coordinator at the Department of Geography, University of Bonn, visited both universities in May. In June, Prof. Felister Mombo from Sokoine University (SUA) and Dr. Lucy Massoi from Mzumbe University visited Bonn.

In Erinnerung an den Bonner Geographen und Klimatologen Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Lauer (1923-2007) finden einmal im Jahr am Geographischen Institut der Universität Bonn die „Lauer-Lectures“ statt. In diesem Jahr, in dem sich der Geburtstag des Wissenschaftlers zum 100. Mal jährt, stand das Thema „Klima- und Hochgebirgsforschung im Wandel“ im Mittelpunkt.

The recently concluded Erasmus+ staff mobility between University of Bonn and Mzumbe University was a unique one. The two universities commemorate a decade of cooperation through joint research and capacity building. Two ongoing areas of academic cooperation between the two universities are worth mentioning: the Erasmus+ student exchange programme and the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre ‘Future Rural Africa’. 

Prof. Kleine, University of Sheffield, is a guest at the Department of Geography, University of Bonn, from June 6 to July 5, 2023. She is an outstanding scientist in the area of global sustainable development and was invited as an International Fellow to be closely involved in the department and to foster future cooperations and joint projects.

Melanie Stammler berichtet über eine Woche in Bergen mit der Erasmus-Dozierendenmobilität und hat dort eine Lunch Lecture über "Andean Rock Glaciers and Swedish Aeolian Dunes" gehalten und hat die Möglichkeit zum Austausch mit der dortigen Arbeitsgruppe Geomatics and Remote Sensing, Studierenden und dem ganzen Department genutzt.
