On 4 December 2023, the Dr. Hohmann Award was presented to Dr. Arne Rieber in Cologne by the Cologne Geographical Society. The Funding supports outstanding research projects by young geographers in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Dr. Arne Rieber is receiving the grant for his research project ‘German Industrial Transformation: Geoeconomy and the Role of the State in the Chemical Industry.’ In this project, Dr. Arne Rieber will examine the reactions of industrial policy and the private sector to a rapidly changing global economy. The focus is on the interdependence of geostrategic and economic processes and the increasing competitive pressure on the European chemical industry. The aim is to develop both empirical and conceptual contributions to the economic geography debate.
The Dr. Hohmann grant will enable him to secure important resources for his work and to independently advance his habilitation project.
We warmly congratulate Dr. Arne Rieber on this success and look forward to further exciting results from his research!
