Changed opening hours on Saturdays before the exam period:
January 24, 2026, January 31, 2026, and February 7, 2026: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
CARNIVAL:
Women's Carnival Day, February 12, 2026: open from 8 a.m. to 11:11 a.m.
Carnival Friday, February 13, 2026: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Rose Monday, February 16, 2026: closed
Please note access restrictions
Examination period: (from now until February 13, 2026)
During this period, we will temporarily restrict access to the library to Earth Sciences students by checking their ID cards.
Fair use of workspaces:
Currently, many seats are blocked by personal belongings while owners are absent for long periods oftime, making them unusable for others.
Please note that this form of ‘reservation’ is not permitted due to shared use of the library by all students! We reserve the right to clear tables in the event of prolonged absence.

Our institute has its own library, which can be found at Meckenheimer Allee 166. The library has 2 floors with group and quiet work areas.

In the library there are different areas for learning and working, which are equipped and can be used in different ways.
Map collection
The large map collection with a stock of about 60,000 maps can be used through the library and includes both map series and individual maps
Geo-Medial
Here you will find a wide range of audio-visual media for digital teaching, as well as a link to borrow media equipment.
Archive
The archives of the Geography Department hold historical documents relating to the history of the department and selected former members.
