Starting in the 2025/26 winter semester, Dr. Juliane Dame will substitute the professorship for Urban and Regional Geography at the Department of Geography at the University of Bonn. She focuses on topics related to environmental governance and sustainability transformation. Juliane Dame will offer modules in both master's and bachelor's programs.

Dr. Juliane Dame is serving as interim professor for Urban and Regional Geography since the beginning of the winter term. She has been employed as postdoctoral researcher in the Cultural Geography working group. Prior to joining the Department of Geography at the University of Bonn, Juliane Dame completed a PhD at Heidelberg University and gained the habilitation-equivalent status as a junior research group leader at the interdisciplinary Heidelberg Center for the Environment (HCE). She completed her degree in Geography with minors in political sciences and soil sciences at the Universities of Bonn and Santiago de Compostela. 

As a human geographer with a background in political ecology and sustainability, Juliane Dame is interested in exploring the complex interconnections between society and the environment. Her thematic focus is on topics such as environmental governance, geographies of food, socioecological transformation and urban and regional development, with regional foci of her empirical research in India and Chile as well as in Germany.

In practice-oriented research and research-based project seminars, Juliane Dame worked on sustainability-oriented transformation and civic participation in spatial planning. She has a profound interest in conducting integrative research as well as in transdisciplinary cooperation. 

She is currently organizing a transdisciplinary workshop on urban food system transformation at the University of Bonn, in cooperation with academic as well as non-academic partners.

In the current winter term, Dr. Juliane Dame will offer various courses in the Bachelor and Master program at the Department of Geography.
