Graduation Ceremony and Summer Party at GIUB
Every year, the Department of Geography hosts the summer party, the traditional end-of-semester celebration, and the graduation ceremony on the last Wednesday of the lecture period. In the summer semester of 2026, this falls on July 22.
Registration for the GIUB graduation ceremony must be completed using the registration form by July 8, 2026, at the latest. Only those who register will be contacted by us regarding the preparation of the celebration, as we require your explicit consent.
Classmates, friends, and parents are warmly welcome to attend the graduation ceremony.

Eligibility Requirements for Graduates
The following applies to Bachelor’s and Master’s students:
In general, students who have earned at least 132 credit points (Bachelor’s) or 60 credit points (Master’s) may register for the graduation ceremony; however, they must have already registered for their Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis, or the thesis must have been submitted.
Important: Communication with graduates takes place via the University of Bonn’s Alumni Portal. To ensure we can reach you without any data protection issues, please register on the University of Bonn’s Alumni Portal in the “Geography” group, even if you are still enrolled in your program.

Geography Alumni
The Department of Geography has set up its own group (Geography) on the University of Bonn’s ALUMNI portal. Graduates from all geography programs can sign up for free.
