Université de Berne
The University of Bern (French: Université de Berne) was founded in 1834 and today comprises eight faculties and around 160 institutes. Under the motto "Knowledge Creates Value", the university is home to approximately 17,000 students. Its central location, high quality of life in the city of Bern, and its broad academic offerings contribute to the university’s strong appeal. In selected research areas—such as space science—the University of Bern holds a leading international position.
Teaching and research are generally interdisciplinary in nature.

Although Switzerland is no longer part of the ERASMUS programme, student exchanges are still possible through the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP). This programme is supported by the Swiss government and offers comparable grants of approximately €390 per month.
