Yollanda Chepkoech Korir is a PhD Researcher at the Department of Geography, University of Bonn. She joined the Development Geography research group in April 2026 under Green Futures (CO3) within the Collaborative Research Centre TRR 228 Future Rural Africa, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Her research focuses on the transformation of rural waterscapes in East Africa.

Yollanda is an environmental researcher with a background in environmental risk management, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and community resilience. She holds an MSc in Environmental Risk Management from the University of Glasgow, where her research focused on the relationship between drought and food insecurity in Africa.
Before commencing her PhD, Yollanda worked as a research assistant, contributing to research on climate vulnerability, rangeland restoration, sustainable natural resource management, and resilience of communities in dryland environments. Her professional experience includes interdisciplinary research, field data collection, stakeholder engagement, and supporting evidence-based approaches to address environmental and socio-ecological challenges.
