DART (Discrete Anisotropic Radiative Transfer) is one of the most accurate and comprehensive 3D RT models that simulate remote sensing observations of natural and urban landscapes with topography and atmosphere. It simulates environmental effects (i.e., impact of adjacent landscape on the observed landscape) using a so-called infinite slope mode that infinitely duplicates the observed landscape while ensuring the continuity of slope and altitude at the DEM edges

Cesbio

The purpose of CESBIO is to contribute to the progress of knowledge on the functioning of continental surfaces and their interactions with climate and humans, relying heavily on satellite data. Satellites constitute one of the few means available to obtain coherent measurements over large areas. Earth Observation offer both the opportunity to monitor the evolution of the planet, at various scales, and fuel the development and implementation of process models.

Esero

The European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO) in Germany is a joint project of ESA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The Ruhr-Universität Bochum and a committed consortium of ten institutions from North Rhine-Westphalia were awarded the contract to establish the ESERO Office. The ESERO Office has the goal to inspire students for MINT topics. To this end, space topics are integrated into school lessons in an exciting and innovative way and students' skills in the subjects of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (STEM subjects) are promoted.

PhenoRob

PhenoRob is leading the world in research in robotics and phenotyping for sustainable crop production. Our vision is to transform crop production by optimizing breeding and farming management through developing and deploying new technologies. PhenoRob addresses a real-world problem with a technology-oriented approach. Our scientists have backgrounds in computer science, geodesy, robotics, plant science, soil science, economics, and environmental science. This interdisciplinary team forms the only DFG-funded Cluster of Excellence focusing on agriculture.
