The University of Vienna (Latin: Alma Mater Rudolphina Vindobonensis) is currently the largest higher education institution in Austria and in the entire German-speaking world, with around 92,500 students and 9,500 staff members. International students account for approximately 25 percent of the student body. Founded in 1365, it is the oldest university in the present-day German-speaking area and, after Charles University in Prague, the second-oldest university established during the era of the Holy Roman Empire.
