University of Eastern Finland

The University of Eastern Finland was established in 2010 through the merger of the former universities of Joensuu and Kuopio. Today, the university has over 15,000 students and operates across three campuses: Joensuu, Kuopio, and Savonlinna.The university is organized into four faculties: the Philosophical Faculty, the Faculty of Science and Forestry, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies The university places great value on interdisciplinary cooperation and balance between the various academic disciplines represented by its faculties. Its overarching research themes are aligned with global challenges, focusing particularly on mobility and borders, environmental change, and the scarcity of natural resources.
