Research group Prof. Dr. Nöthen - Geography Education
The geography education team is primarily interested in research about teaching and learning Geography in German Gymnasium. This goes hand in hand with focussing on the improvement of a teacher’s education at the Department of Geography. Geography education in this context means an interdisciplinary approach to research as we deal with specifically geographic and general pedagogical topics.
Since March 2023, the geography education research group has been headed by Prof. Dr. Eva Nöthen. Her research and teaching is oriented towards transformative geographic education and current issues in the field of Geography and its successful teaching. Prof. Dr. Nöthen's specific research interests and research foci span three areas: Sustainable Development and Environmental Education, Visuality and Media Education, and Artistic Research and Aesthetic Education. The focus is on linking subject knowledge and subject didactics. In this way, perspectives of the subject of Geography can become the starting point for didactic reflection.
Further information on Prof. Dr. Nöthen's research group will follow shortly.
