Post Doctor

Research

My research focus is mainly on the disasters and human societies. I have worked with intersecting themes of gender, governance, migration, culture and norms in relation to disasters. I am currently working on the impacts of disasters on culture and identity in the pretext of loss and damage.

Interest and Expertise

I have had a very interdisciplinary experience during my research. Primarily, I have been working with climate change, hazard vulnerabilities and disaster resilience in the local communities. In the past years, I have had the opportunity to collaborate internationally in projects where the focus has been on the local and indigenous knowledge, community based DRR and cocreation of knowledge. The multidimensional nature of evolving concepts in Climate Change and Disaster Studies require the practitioners to be not only conceptually sound, but also open to new working systems and contextually viable solutions to global issues. Therefore, I am interested to understand the socioeconomic, cultural and religious dynamics ever transitioning societies especially in the Global South where different sectors are interdependent and quite complex. I My research focus is on finding participatory and inclusive local solutions that can be linked together to make a difference to the global problems.
