In his lecture, Dr. Gediminas Lesutis from the Department of Human Geography, Planning and International Development, talks about the everyday politics of mega-infrastructures in Kenya. His research focuses on the social and political impacts of capitalist development and its intensification across Eastern and Southern Africa - particularly in extractive industries, mega-infrastructures and urban areas. While he has explored these issues specifically in the context of Mozambique and Kenya, his work reflects on how the experiences of these time and space specific realities critically inform issues of capitalist development, power, quality of life and resistance in global politics.
