The challenge of the commons is how we protect the shared resources for the future - this is how David Bollier, author, activist and consultant on the societal handling of the commons, introduces his interview to the "renaissance of the commons discourse". In a capitalist system where the market controls resources primarily, governance need to change and the idea of the commons is a way to protect resources. But how did we get this far? How has the issue of the commons changed over the past decades? And what is meant by "the tragedy of commons"? David Bollier gives us a short definition of what "the commons" are and reduces their "invisibility".
