Since the 1st of August 2020, Rupa has joined our team as a PhD scholar within the partnership “Appraising risk, past and present: Interrogating historical data to enhance understanding of environmental crises in the Indian Ocean World”. In her PhD project she will focus on the relevance of a historical perspective for contemporary flood risk management in India. Due to the current Covid-19 situation in India, she starts by concentrating on disaster communication. The PhD is jointly supervised by Julia Verne and Brian Tomaszewski from the Rochester Institute of Technology, USA.
Lisa Jenny Krieg has published her new article in the half-yearly journal Global Environment on “Endangered, Invasive, Pet, Commodity: Gecko Circulations and Value Transformation in the Western Indian Ocean.” Global Environment 13: 195–223.
