Biography

Astrid began her geography studies in Heidelberg in 2012, where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree with a thesis on rural development through sustainable tourism in Ecuador. In 2016 she moved to the Department of Geography at the University of Bonn for a Master's degree in "Globalisation and Development", where she deals in the given context more closely with theoretical and methodological debates on human-nature relations. Since October 2017 she has been working in Julia Verne's group and supports her and Lisa Jenny Krieg in research and teaching. Recently Astrid completed her Master of Science with the thesis "Approximating the Past - the Restoration of Wildlife Corridors in Kilombero Valley, Tanzania" and became part of the CRC 228 "Future Rural Africa: Future-making and social-ecological transformation".

Together with Julian Rochlitz, she now deals with the relations between society, environment, knowledge and technology using the example of the transformation of smallholder agriculture through mobile information services in East Africa. This will contribute to broader topics and debates such as ICT4D (Information and Communication Technologies for Development), D4D (Data for Development), Actor-Network-Theories and Science and Technology Studies.
