Remote Sensing

Main Research Areas

The Remote Sensing Research Group focuses on applied research questions with regard to satellite remote sensing and digital image analysis for the observation and modeling of land surfaces. Current methodological priorities are:

  • The development of processing chains
  • Land-use and land-cover modeling
  • The synergetic use of optical and radar sensors
  • Land degradation
  • The derivation of biophysical parameters from satellite imagery.

The Remote Sensing Research Group is committed to making geomatics one of the main research focuses of the Department of Geography.
