Research Focus

PhD Thesis title: “Blue-Green-Infrastructure for Climate Change Adaptation”

Urban environments around the globe are facing two major challenges – negative effects of climate change and a need to lower energy consumption. Following ways have been recognized in addressing these challenges: increasing the presence of nature and water within the city limits and strategic use of urban ecosystem services. With the focus on blue-green infrastructure, that is a part of urban storm water management, the aim of this doctoral thesis is to develop an innovative theoretical and methodological concept for blue-green integrated planning approach. Additionally, through the course of this research, a Decision Support System for early stages of this interdisciplinary approach will be developed with the focus on water related issues.
