Charles University in Prague has a long and distinguished history dating back to 1348, making it one of the oldest universities in Europe.
Today, it is the largest university in the Czech Republic, with around 52,000 students enrolled across 17 faculties. The Department of Geography is organized into the following four divisions: Department of Applied Geoinformatics and Cartography, Department of Demography and Geodemography, Department of Physical Geography and Geoecology
and the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development.
