Child-friendly cities as a solution to urban shrinkage

This lecture explores the challenges faced by families living in the shrinking city of Ostrava, drawing on survey data collected in 2020 and 2025. Why are families leaving, and what are they missing? By examining their needs and expectations, we discuss how child-friendly urban planning could help reverse population decline and make Ostrava a more attractive place for young families to stay and thrive.
