Visions of future development
How does „development“ contribute to future-making in the Global South? – Members of the development geography group at GIUB present case studies of contested land-use change, land tenure and livelihoods in the Global South. The studies highlight the visions, hopes and expectations of local actors, and their capacity to influence future developments. Case studies come from Africa and India, rural and urban areas, and different governance systems. Participants are invited to „Brezeln & Bier“ after the presentation, and to meet and discuss with the speakers.
Speakers: Prof. Dr. Detlef Müller-Mahn (Introduction), Dr. Irit Eguaoen and Dr. Sneha Sharma (Airport Villages in Senegal and India), Johannes Dittmann and Rene Vesper (growth corridors and conservation areas in Africa), Dr. Theo Aalders (dams and development).
