The SPEAR Project at ZFL
Vortrag von Adrian Strauch zum Thema The SPEAR Project at ZFL: Strengthening Disaster Management Capabilities of African Countries Through Earth Observations.
In 2019, the Center for Remote Sensing of Land Surfaces (ZFL) of the University of Bonn started a collaborative project together with the Bonn office of the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER), which is a program of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA). The SPEAR project supports the work of UN-SPIDER and sets a special focus on strengthening the capabilities of African countries to benefit from Earth Observation (EO) in the fields of disaster management and disaster risk reduction. ZFL, UN-SPIDER and the joint project activities in Africa will be presented together with examples of EO based mapping and capacity building activities.
