DESCRIPTION:For the first time in its history\, the Intergovernmental Pane
l on Climate Change (IPCC) will dedicate a standalone chapter to loss and
damage (L&D) in its upcoming 7th Assessment Report. This further recognise
s that climate impacts are already happening and irreversible\, despite on
going efforts to mitigate and adapt. This turning point sparks discussion
about the science and politics of L&D: what should be included and how los
ses and damages can be measured? It also sparks a wider discussion: can th
e IPCC effect change in an increasingly (climate) science-resistant world?
These and other questions will be discussed in a panel discussion with fo
ur IPCC authors based in Bonn.\n\nThis event is hosted by the Loss and Dam
age Collective Bonn\, a loose association of organisations and experts wor
king on the topic of loss and damage in Bonn. It provides an inclusive pla
tform for informal idea-sharing and expert exchange on the most pressing q
uestions in the loss and damage discussion.
