DESCRIPTION:Multimodal Earth Vision and Artificial Intelligence Techniques
for Natural Hazard Risk and Impact Assessment \n\nGlobal changes encompas
s human-driven alterations to the Earth system. These changes include incr
easing urbanization and the frequent increase of exposure and vulnerabilit
y with respect to natural hazards such as earthquakes\, tsunamis\, or floo
d events. Existing models often allow solely a very coarse estimation of r
isks as they rely on either highly aggregated or outdated input data. This
situation is exacerbated as urbanization processes dramatically reshape s
ettlement areas within a very short timeframe. Consequently\, it is often
challenging to quantify and anticipate the risks and potential consequence
s of natural hazards. In this context\, we demonstrate the use of artifici
al intelligence techniques in conjunction with innovative geospatial data
for natural hazard risk and impact assessment.
