Research Focus

  • Understanding water and nutrients (particularly phosphorus) transfer processes in the critical zone 
  • the effect of land use (particularly agriculture) and climate on tranfer processes in the critcial zone
  • methods used:
    • laboratory experimentation
    • field monitoring (stream flow, solutes and other physico-chemical parameters),
    • data analysis (C-Q relationship, flowpaths separation...)
    • modeling approaches (transit times, water age distribution).

Current Research Project

I am investigating the effect of tree water uptake on catchment transit times by modelling water age distribution in transpiration and discharge and by calibrating the model using discharge, sapflow and water stable isotopes measurements in a forested catchment in Luxembourg. This work is carried out in collaboration with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology.
