Research Foci
Geographical Development Studies, Interdisciplinary Water Research, Sustainable Resource Use Systems, Cultural Diversity, Social Theory
My main research focus is the sustainable management and social negotiations of access to resources, especially water. Water issues in development contexts form the empirical starting point for studies on resource governance theories that seek to integrate people and structure centered social theory as well as biophysical and cultural systems. The aim is to identify and promote alternative, community-oriented forms of resource governance that link ecological, economical and social justice criteria of the sustainability concept.
