Research interest

Political Ecology
Urban Governance
Water
India

My research interests are on issues of Political Ecology, mainly of water. I have studied conflicts around access to water in Spain, and am now working on sanitation in slums in India. This has lead to an interest in questions of urban governance, governmentality, and citizenship. In this context, the role of the state and bureaucracy in everyday life has emerged as a major focus. In my research I am working with qualitative methods, with a growing sympathy for ethnography.
